Surge Protection Devices

Bourns Surge Protective Devices (SPDs) protect sensitive equipment from damage caused by lightning and electrical transient surges. These protective devices integrate discrete circuit protection devices into an assembly or system that provides enhanced functionality and protection. Based on Bourns' expertise in discrete circuit protection, the SPD product line includes protective devices for AC systems, DC power systems, signal data line circuits, and coaxial networks/CATV. Bourns SPDs protect various electronic, electrical, data communication, and telecommunication equipment.

DC Surge Protective Devices

Bourns DC Power Surge Protective Devices product line includes Model 1320 and 1420 series DC Power SPDs. The model 1320 Series features DIN Rail mountable DC Power SPDs designed to protect systems operating at 48VDC, 75VDC, and 110VDC, and provide a maximum discharge current rating of up to 40kA (8/20μs). Bourns model 1420 series DC Power SPDs protect photovoltaic systems operating up to 1200VDC. The model 1420 Series incorporates a hybrid MOV/GDT design to provide an enhanced level of protection and long-term performance. These DIN Rail mountable devices offer a maximum lightning surge current rating of 40kA (8/20μs) per pole. Both series are recognized per UL 1449 3rd edition and IEC 61643-1.
