onsemi FAD1110EVB Driver Evaluation Board is a compact, ready-to-use hardware platform designed to evaluate the performance and functionality of the FAD1110 automotive ignition driver IC in realistic ignition-coil applications. The board integrates the FAD1110 device with an ignition IGBT and all essential application circuitry, providing a complete solution for evaluating coil charging behavior, programmable dwell-time control, current limiting via the VSENSE input, and the device’s timing-based protection features. These features enable fast and efficient validation of ignition driver operation without the need for additional external hardware.

The FAD1110EVB enables detailed observation of the device’s differential input stage, which includes built-in spike filtering and ground-shift tolerance, ensuring robust triggering in harsh automotive electrical environments. The evaluation board also demonstrates how the Hard Shut Down (HSD) mechanism immediately disables the ignition IGBT when the system exceeds the programmed maximum dwell time. This action protects the system from thermal overload and unintended spark events.

The board's design prioritizes the safe handling of ignition-level voltage transients.
