STMicroelectronics EVLSTGAP3S3IF Half-Bridge Evaluation Board
STMicroelectronics EVLSTGAP3S3IF Half-Bridge Evaluation Board evaluates the STGAP3S3IF, an isolated single-gate driver. The STGAP3S3IF features a 3A current capability, rail-to-rail outputs, and optimized UVLO and DESAT protection thresholds for IGBTs. These features make it optimal for high-power motor drivers in industrial applications. The gate driver has an internal Miller CLAMP and a single output pin, which optimizes the suppression of positive and negative gate spikes during fast commutations in half-bridge topologies.
The 5V VAUX connection supplies the board, feeding the isolated DC-DC converters for the low-side and high-side driving sections. When using a 5V MCU, AUX directly supplies the gate drivers. When using a 3.3V MCU, the system utilizes the onboard linear regulator instead. Dedicated connectors control the PWM and Reset inputs, while an onboard LED displays the diagnostic outputs.
The recommended board network connects the device protection features (Desaturation and Miller clamp), allowing the user to evaluate them at the board test points easily. Dual input pins allow the implementation of HW interlocking protection and selection of signal polarity control to avoid cross-conduction in case of controller malfunction. The device supports negative gate driving, and the onboard isolated DC-DC converters enable optimized IGBT driving voltages.
The STMicroelectronics EVLSTGAP3S3IF board allows evaluating all of the STGAP3S3IF features while operating with a bus voltage up to 650V.
