Melexis MLX90381 Triaxis® Pico-Resolvers
Melexis MLX90381 Triaxis® Pico-Resolvers are monolithic contactless sensor ICs for rotary position sensing in compact motor designs. The devices measure magnetic flux density in three dimensions and map two selectable axes to high-speed sine and cosine analog outputs. This flexible arrangement supports end-of-shaft and through-shaft sensing when the MLX90381 is paired with a moving permanent magnet.
The Melexis MLX90381 resolves angular position over 360° and measures rotational speeds above 50,000 electrical revolutions per minute. Sensitivity and filter bandwidth can be programmed through I2C to match the ADC input range of a companion microcontroller without an external programming tool. Support for 3.3V and 5V supplies, a wide temperature range, and embedded functional-safety capabilities enable automotive and industrial motor-control applications.
The compact DFN-6 package requires only three external capacitors, helping reduce PCB area and simplify module-level integration. Selectable magnetic-axis combinations give designers greater placement flexibility across end-of-shaft, side-of-shaft, and through-shaft configurations.
